Fire & Life Safety Education

The Baltimore City Fire Department (BCFD) Office of the Fire Marshal offers training and educational programs to help improve fire and life safety in the community.

Public Education Services

Hands-Only CPR Training

BCFD offers free Hands-Only CPR training to help community members respond to cardiac emergencies.

  • A life-saving skill recommended by the American Heart Association
  • Used for teens and adults in out-of-hospital settings (home, work, school)
  • Maryland State Law: Required training for all high school students before graduation

EMS Presentation & Health Information

Led by BCFD EMS facilitators, the Building Education and Awareness Team (BEAT) provides health education on:

  • Hypertension
  • Diabetes
  • Cardiac Disease
  • Asthma
  • Heat-Related Illnesses

Includes educational materials on symptoms, risk factors, prevention, and treatment.

EMS Standby (Event Support)

Community groups, businesses, and event organizers can request a BCFD medic unit for community events or resource fairs.

What to Expect:

  • Tours of the medic unit
  • Q&A with EMTs & Paramedics
  • Engagement with event participants

BCFD Educators and BEAT (Building Education and Awareness Team) members provide career insights at:

Fire Truck/Fire Engine Requests

Schools, businesses, and community organizations can request a Fire Truck or Fire Engine (subject to availability) for events.

What to Expect:

  • Tour of the fire apparatus
  • Fire & Life Safety discussions
  • Community engagement

Note: Fire Trucks and Fire Engines remain in service and may need to leave for 911 emergencies but will return if possible.
